The Basilica of the Sacred Heart Mercy Sanctuary

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart Montmartre overlooks the city of Paris with a magnificent panoramic view of the city.

It is the oldest Divine Mercy sanctuary in Paris. The official title of the Basilica is actually : « Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Montmartre, Sanctuary of Eucharistic Adoration and Divine Mercy ».

People visit the Basilica individually or in groups, deposit their burdens and try to find an answer to their quest for meaning in their lives. The Blessed Sacrament is exposed on the altar without interruption for 130 years and thousands of people come here to pray to Jesus.

Many come on pilgrimages to draw God’s Mercy at « the source » that is, from the Heart of Christ. This is expressed in the big mosaic of Christ of Mercy over the choir. Christ welcomes everyone in this sanctuary in order to reveal the love of God the Father Whoever we are, Christ opens His arms to us, and He opens His Heart.

Priests are present every day of the year, 7 hours a day. Everyone can dialogue with one of them and/or if desired, receive the sacrament of penitence and reconciliation, sacrament of Mercy.

Many saints came to the Mercy Sanctuary to pray : St Therese of The Child Jesus (November 6th, 1887), Blessed Charles de Foucauld (February 21, 1909) and Saint John Paul II (June 1st, 1980) …
